西蒙•唐納森教授(Professor Simon K Donaldson)及克利福•陶布斯教授(Professor Clifford H Taubes)獲頒2009年度邵逸夫數學科學獎，以表彰他們對於3維與4維幾何學的卓越貢獻。香港大學舉辦「邵逸夫數學科學獎講座」，讓同學探索幾何學的奧祕。西蒙•唐納森教授(Professor Simon K Donaldson)是英國倫敦帝國學院皇家學會研究純粹數學教授及數學科學研究所所長，其講題為「Old themes and new directions in mathematical aspects of Yang-Mills theory」。
克利福•陶布斯教授(Professor Clifford H Taubes)是美國哈佛大學William Patschek數學講座教授，其講題為「Loops, surfaces and the structure of 3 and 4-dimensional spaces」。
